Dev Log 06: Major Update - Lucky Finds

Hi Everyone!! We hope you're having a fantastic weekend.

Big news.... [insert drum roll here]

We've added Lucky Finds!

This is a collection of TWENTY FOUR different paleontological, geological and archeological finds you can collect during your expeditions and put on display in your awesome new display cabinets. These are all small items that can not be picked up by your scanner so it's always a nice surprise when you find one! Once you get home you can organise all your cool rocks and tiny fossils.

Display Cabinets

Now that you've found all these awesome artifacts and fossils, you'll need somewhere to put them! We have added display cases so you can show your Lucky Finds to your visitors.

Two New Fossils

The karoo now boasts 2 more fossils to find, assemble and put on display. Can you find both of them?

More bug fixes and balancing

  • New players always start with a small excavation to get started with.
  • Added Exhibit Completed notification.
  • Updated SFX.
  • Improved UI
  • Game Balancing has been tweaked a bit.
  • Lots of other improvements.

Other news

Fossil Quest has been featured on GX.games and in the last few days we've gotten over 16000 plays! This led to a lovely wishlist spike on Steam which is a huge win for our tiny team.

Thanks for all your support! We hope you enjoy the update!

i've been playing for about over a month now, and i adore the game! i can't stop coming back to it. i'm just wondering, did you remove the counter for how many fossils are left?

thanks so much for making this kickass game <3

Yes we did remove the counter for the fossils as an experiment. Do you think you preferred it with the fossil counter?

Maybe the fossil counter could be an upgrade? Let me know your thoughts... we were on the fence about removing it but we thought it might make it feel less like a chore and more like exploring and looking for fossils.

i'm not sure! i personally very much enjoyed the fossil counter, but i'm a completionist; if i don't know what i'm looking for in a game, i'll scrub every wall. i can definitely understand why people would enjoy the adventure of not having it! maybe it could be an upgrade like you said, or even a toggle?
